To Catch A Trader
To Catch A Trader is a 2014 PBS Frontline documentary which goes inside the American Government’s seven year long ‘Operation Perfect Hedge’ investigation into insider trading on Wall Street which involved numerous major hedge funds. The documentary makes use of incriminating audio captured by FBI wire traps which recorded the conversations of various hedge fund bosses.
The investigation centered primarily around the alleged insider trading of hedge fund heavyweight Steven A. Cohen who subsequently avoided conviction and was instead fined for a lesser charge of failing to supervise an employee convicted of insider trading. The multi-billionaire is now making moves to re-enter the industry with a new hedge fund, his net-worth currently stands at a cool $13.5 billion. Featuring in the film are various Justice Department and Wall Street insiders.
