Billion Dollar Day
A 1985 BBC documentary about currency trading (Forex) which focuses on three different currency traders as they go about their business in a single twenty four hour period. One of the traders is based in New York, one in Hong Kong, and one in London. The three traders are filmed over the the day to show how the system works and to showcase the determination and dedication of the traders.
More than one billion dollars of currency (pounds, dollars and marks) is exchanged by the three traders in the 24 hours of filming (that’s about $2.3 billion in today’s money). This landmark documentary was probably the first time the British public was given an insight into this otherwise mysterious world.
